THE SEX LIFE OF A LAGOS MAD WOMAN…

Hi everyone,

So this is the entry I submitted for a competition. I wasn’t short listed but I feel so blessed to have participated…

Enjoy.

THE SEX LIFE OF A LAGOS MAD WOMAN…

The leper knew she was pregnant. It wasn’t because she had added weight on the backside that he liked to feast his eyes upon. “I guess a mad woman’s buttocks are as good as any other.” he thought. He knew because she ate double of whatever the Aboki sold to her nowadays. He watched her every move religiously so he noticed any changes. She wasn’t aware of it, which made it more exciting.

Her pregnancy wasn’t the only thing he knew about her. He also knew about her and Rosco.

“Stupid woman. I wonder what she sees in him. Every time he whistles, she answers like a puppy. Sometimes, I wonder if she is mad or just faking it so she can survive. After all, this is Lagos, survival takes different forms.” He concluded.

Ironically, her honesty was one of the reasons he liked her. She didn’t pretend she was normal like the rest of the people he saw from under his umbrella. She was abnormal and proud of it. This made her saner than most. The other people wore clothes to mask their madness, although their actions belied their dressing. Everyone was always in a rush. It was such a tiring sight.

This was why he liked watching her. She was a refreshing sight. She never rushed, even when she fought. She fought with ease.

The other day she bit the man that sold recharge card for calling her names. It was as if she meant to sample the man’s hand instead of her usual breakfast. It was so funny, he couldn’t help himself. He laughed till he felt something wet in his pants.

He also had a feeling she thought it was Rosco’s baby. What she didn’t know was, while she slept, he would crawl up to her, and empty himself in between her legs. She was such a deep sleeper. She would sometimes stir but she never woke fully. He was grateful she never woke up. However, he couldn’t help feeling insulted. Was he that bad that he couldn’t get a response from a mad woman?  There were times he would ram into her just to see if she would open her eyes but all she did was snore harder.

He didn’t care that she did not notice him during the day; he knew he would get his revenge at night after she finished with that man. Maybe it was their encounters that wore her out, whatever the reasons, he did not care.

All he cared about was her pregnancy. He was a leper during the day but he was her faceless lover at night. This child would prove to her and others, that he was a man no matter the circumstances or time of the day.

He looked closely at her as she walked across the street again. “Yes, she is pregnant with my child.” He assured himself with a smile. He turned away from her and attacked the passer-by with his usual song of sorrow.

TEST ME…

Hi everyone,

This is for all those who have been tested..those who are going through a test in their lives, relationships or anything…

You can only get stronger…

Enjoy…

Test me…
I can only get stronger
Gold put in fire…shines more
So test me…
I dare you
Throw it all at once
Watch me dodge the bullets
Every single one
The ones I don’t see
They can’t hurt
Pain is only defined by my thoughts
Test me

Is that all you have?
You can do better…
I can’t hear you
Gossip louder!
I can’t feel you
Throw it harder!
I can’t see you
Make yourself bigger!
Is that all?
Please do some more
Perhaps I might begin to see you…
Yes you…
I am talking to you…LIFE
Can you hear me?
Test me…
Life…keep testing
I can only get better…
Shine harder…
Get stronger…
So test me…

I dare you
I double dare you…
I triple dare you…
Test me…

DOYIN SAX runs the stage with RON KENOLY.

Hi everyone,

I am so excited to share some news with you. My brother performed with Ron Kenoly on friday. 27.07.12. My family and I couldn’t attend but we are so proud of him. His name is DOYIN SAX. He is a saxophonist.

I love his music because it has a certain African feel to it. It is a fine mixture of the different eras in Nigerian music… I am not saying this because he is family. The guy is really good. You should check him out.
His twitter handle is dyreeds. Give him a follow!

God really works wonders when you least expect it! Well done Big bro…

SMOOTH OPERATOR…

Dayo was supposed to be her first love, if only she had met him several months before she met Tola. Dayo was her idea of perfect even with his slightly crooked walk. He had a certain charm about him that lingered. He wasn’t particularly funny but he managed to make her smile often.

Tola was the guy she met after she got to Nigeria. They bumped into each other at the airport and since then, he pursued her with an energy that left her breathless. He wooed and wowed her. She could not refuse him. He was a smooth operator and she loved him for it. She knew he liked the finer things in life. There was a time, she caught him staring at a girl’s buttocks through the rear view mirror of his car.
“Hmmm..typical Nigerian man.” She thought and laughed.
Tola was her knight in shining armour. He took care of her and he treated her like a queen. He was perfect, at least to the people who saw them together. She knew better. He had a nasty habit. He couldn’t stop watching pornography. Each time she threatened to leave him. He would beg, and promise to stop until she caught him again.
She didn’t mind watching porn once in a while to spice things up but Tola watched porn like he read the bible. He had it on his phone, ipad, lap-top, and any viewing device that he owned. She had tried to help him but he didn’t think it was a problem.

One night, she heard him sneak out of the room, she didn’t need to follow him. She knew where he was headed. It took all her willpower not to scream out his name. She was tired of his nasty habit. She knew she was on borrowed time, it was only a matter of time before he sought other ways to live out his fantasies when she was too tired to act them out. She loved Tola but she loved her sanity more.

Three weeks after he sneaked out of their bedroom to watch pornography, he travelled to Abuja. It was during his trip she met Dayo at a saloon.
Dayo came to drop his sister off when they met. He saw her and he said to her.
“I am calling in sick at work right now, I am going to spend the entire day in this saloon as long as you are in it.”
She smiled and walked away. She thought he was joking.
Three hours later, halfway into her braids, and his sister’s departure she knew he was serious. He sat patiently, waiting for her. He didn’t say anything to her but they both knew he was waiting for her. She started to sing a made up song.

“My boyfriend is coming to pick me. So please leave now before he breaks your head.” She sang.

“I am a police officer, I will throw him in jail!.” He replied.

The people who had been observing the whole situation laughed. She couldn’t help but smile.
They became friends and he was her solace anytime Tola misbehaved. She knew they were falling in love yet she couldn’t help herself.

She was in a dilemma. She loved a man who cared for her but she was in love with another man who completed her. She decided to break it off with Tola. She looked for ways to tell him but it was difficult.

One night, she made his favourite meal, cleaned the house. She knew he wouldn’t clean when she left. She washed his boxers, and packed her bags. She called Dayo to pick her up at 9pm sharp.

“A break up shouldn’t take so long. One hour, and I am out of here!” She thought.

Tola came home as usual at 8pm. She served him his meal. She watched him eat. She cleaned the dishes. He had moved to the sitting room when she finished. She drew his hand into hers. She looked at him.
“What babe?” He asked
“I have something I want to tell you.” She said
“Ok. Please pass me that magazine.” He replied.

She picked the magazine and something fell out. She picked the thing up. It was a box. She looked at Tola. He was kneeling down. She was puzzled.

“I know I am not perfect but you have stuck around even with that. I love you. I know you love me. I will keep trying to get better. Please, please marry me.” He said with a smile.

She was speechless…

LET ME SLEEP…

Let me sleep
Perhaps if I wake it will be gone
The pain of reality
The sorrow of fear
The loss of it
Let me sleep
Maybe my tears will dry
Perhaps I might wake
And the rhythm would have changed

Let me sleep
To forget the truth wrapped in a lie
Let me sleep
Perhaps when I wake
I would be in another world
A world where I would be…
Let me sleep
If I wake…maybe
If I don’t…
At least I would sleep forever

Let me sleep…
