KAKADU…sexy 60s!

Hi guys,

So, I am at rehearsal as usual. Today, I begin to learn how to twist in heels. Yikes! The last time I tried to do a salsa routine in heels…let’s just say it didn’t turn out well.

However, after rehearsing for so long. Kakadu has taught me one thing. Nothing is impossible. I am excited and a bit wary but I know I am about to bring some sexy back from the sixties!

See you on the 9th of May. You may not know what hit you!

P.S. With all these adventures, God is my map…I follow HIM always.

KAKADU….the war

Hi guys,

I never really understood the enmity between the 3 major tribes in Nigeria.
Working on this play has shed some uncomfortable light on the silent rivalry.

Is it weird that I feel like I could have changed things if I was born at that time?
I most probably would have been jailed a few times but it would have been worth it. No pain…no gain.

AFTER REHEARSALS.

Just finished rehearsals. Heading home in a very uncomfortable bus.

Talk soon…

KAKADU…absent thoughts

Hi guys,

Hope you are all having fun? Its a sunday so there is not much too do.

So, I am thinking about KAKADU and how much effect the 1960s had on the present day Nigeria.

The fashion, the economy, the politics and everything in 1960s. I really love looking into history, its like a beautiful imperfect picture with perfect moments.

KAKADU the musical really has become a teacher, I look forward to sharing my lessons everyday with people I meet.

At this moment, I really may just have a crush on the Nigeria that existed between 1960-1965.

OJUELEGBA..,

Would you be quiet?
I hear enough noise in my head

Would you be closer?
I tire of your long distant routes
Would you be farther?
I tire of your infections and dirt

I have noticed you!
You and your parked paths
I have seen you!
You with the stammerer that needs

I pity some parts of you
The parts that are damaged yet give thanks
The parts that are educated yet beg

I loathe some parts
The ever gruesome sun you let shine on your streets.
The persistent smokers you house
The lies you feed the pantless females
The truth you show through the fatherless conductors

OJUELEGBA,
You shelter my blood…
So, I must say thanks
Yet I would change that if I could!

We are not friends
Friends would never be this smelly, and obnoxious (not all)
We are not enemies
Enemies would not nurture a dream
They would kill it

So, clap…yes, clap Ojuelegba!
You…only you can fart in my mouth
Yet put salt…

Do not clap for long…
For you may have won the battle
But I have won the war…

KAKADU..PART 1

Hi guys,

So, today is another day of rehearsal…it is a bit weird for me to blog about it. However, I have given my word so I can’t back out…can I?

DURING REHEARSALS

Wow, the 60s was a cool period. Security must have been great. Most people that visited to KAKADU, went at night, and they went back home anytime they felt like it without being robbed.
That can’t happen now, if you club, you stay out till the next day else the senior boys visit you…lol

AFTER REHEARSALS

Well, I lost a few lines, then I found them again.
Who knew singing was such a beautiful yet tiring exercise?

I am so tired yet I have managed to find solitude in a dark theatre to watch “THE WEEKEND GATEAWAY.”
I made a new friend.

P.S. Being an actor is easy, becoming the character easier yet the process of telling your character’s story is sometimes exhausting but rewarding!
